形態特徵

• Perennial with short rhizome; culms crowded in a row or densely tufted, 30-70 cm by 1-5 mm, compressedly 3- or 4-angular, glabrous, smooth to scabrid, narrowly winged above.
• Leaves basal, few; blades linear, to 25 cm by 3-5 mm, obtuse, flat, scabird on upper margins; sheaths 1-8 cm long, laterally compressed with sharply keeled back, pale to rusty-brown, obliquely truncate at orifice; ligule a fringe of short hairs.
• Inflorescence compound or decompound, subloose to subdense, 4-10 cm by 3-6 cm; involucre bracts 2-4, lowest 1-8 cm long; primary branches 3-7, 1-7 cm long. Spikelets solitary or somewhat aggregate, oblong to lance-ovate, 4-9 mm by 1-2 mm, acute, angular, rusty-brown, subloosely 5-15-flowered.
• Glumes 5-20 per spikelet, spiral, ovate, 2-3 mm long, mucronate, chartaceous, rustybrown; keel 1-nerved, green. Stamens 2-3; anthers ca. 1mm long. Style triquetrous, dilated and glabrous at base; stigmas 3. Achenes broadly obovate, 0.7-1.2 by 0.3-0.8 mm, minutely stipitate, milky-white, finely cancellated with several lows of transversely oblong epidermal cells.

分布

• 台灣 : common in lowland wet gresslands, rice fields, seashores and cultivated grounds.
• 世界 : Pantropical, in Asia from India to Japan.
